WhoYaGonnaCall??? - The Saga (and Drama) Continues...

Ghostbusters III has been in negotiation for quite some time. However, in the last month or so, the latest update has been that Bill Murray will NOT be appearing in the film.

I have read various comments and articles posted on this topic, and one of the most recent comments that made me stop and think, was one from a person who said "if he cared about the fans, he'd do it".

I'm a fan of the Ghostbusters series, but I will say this: I also used to be a fan of the Indiana Jones series... The KOCS film (funny how that acronym almost sounds like something else), in my opinion (as well as many others), was a disaster. Is it possible that maybe Murray can foresee this with a new Ghostbusters film, and maybe, doesn't want to be on the train as it jumps the track??

The last Ghostbusters film came out in 1989. For those of you who can't add, that was 23 years ago. For those of us who grew up in the 80s, Ghostbusters at the movies was simply a great time to be a kid. But, as we have seen with many sequels, sometimes you really have to let classics remain............ classics.

For those of you who are on the fence, let me provide another example besides IJ... Anyone remember a classic 80s film by the name of WarGames? OK, great. Did you know there's a sequel to it? I'm guessing no. I rest my case....

Dan, please do us a favor and don't make this movie.

Catherine Mary Stewart - Starfighter to Crime Fighter

One of my childhood hotties was Catherine Mary Stewart. She appeared in 2 classic '80s movies, The Last Starfighter, and Night of the Comet (where she could play some serious Tempest by the way!!).

The other day I notice that the wife's got the DVR recording something in the middle of the day, and it's on LMN. When I saw that I threw up a little in my mouth. Nevertheless I hit the INFO button on the remote, and up comes "My Daughter's Secret", starring Catherine Mary Stewart. All I had to see was that name... and it was time for me to watch me some Lifetime......

The movie was filmed in 2007, and of course CMS had aged (haven't we all)- but it was still nice to see her in front of the camera once again, and wearing a badge to boot! Details on the movie can be found here:

Keep goin' Catherine! You haven't been forgotten. :)

Arcade Games - Old Code Never Dies...

Since it is well-known that the topics of discussion here at BTDT cover the realms of sci-fi and gaming (as well as a slew of others), I felt it important to share this amazing discovery with our reader base.. On an affiliate site that I frequent (KLOV.com), there is a member in their Forums who goes by the name of "AtariScott". This recent post of his in their Forums was something I thought should be seen by the BTDT Community. I hope all of you enjoy this stellar find on the part of AtariScott:

Here is a little piece of arcade history that I picked up recently. It is a complete miracle that this thing has survived. The story is slightly complicated but here it goes. A friend of mine was looking for a Tektronix 8560 to help someone read some data from an 8 inch floppy of arcade source code from 1980. He needed this unit, because the game was developed with this hardware. He searched eBay and he eventually found a selling, with a lot of 5 units for sale. In the pictures of the auctions were lots of vintage computer parts and floppy discs. He won the auction and paid the seller. He had a friend that was local to the seller pick up the items and they delivered it to him a couple months later. When he started going through the boxes, he noticed some floppy discs with familiar names on them. Solar Quest, Space Wars, Hovercraft, and a whole bunch of others. He had stumbled upon one of the Cinematronics development systems and a floppy disc archive. There are hundreds of 8 inch floppy discs in 4 bankers boxes. What is truly amazing, is that this pickup was was a complete fluke. The eBay seller had picked up these items at a storage unit auction in the San Diego area. He had no idea what he had stumbled upon. The original auction never mentioned the Terak system and did not have any pictures of it either. Also, if my friend had not been looking for a Tektronix 8560, during the week that this auction ran, this stuff may have ended up in a non-arcade collectors hands. It may have even ended up in a dumpster if the auction had ended with no bidders. Not many people are looking for a Tektronix 8560.... I have just started going through the discs, but there are some amazing things on the few I have looked at.

It just goes to show that you never know what you can still find these days.
